Students receive McDonald’s scholarships
Three students from Henderson and Oxford recently received $1,000 scholarships from McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Kendell Williams of Henderson and Ainha Derry of Oxford were awarded Ronald McDonald House Charities scholarships, and Addison Ayscue of Oxford received a Ray Kroc Youth Achievement Award.
Ronald McDonald House Charities scholarship recipients are chosen based on their leadership skills, academic success, community involvement, financial status and a personal essay.
Ray Kroc awards are given to McDonald’s employees pursuing a secondary education.
The scholarships were presented during a ceremony held in the courtyard of WakeMed Hospital. Ayscue and Derry were present at the event. Williams was unable to attend.
