Fifth-graders at Clarke Elementary School recently listened to a series of presentations about preparing for their future careers.

The presenters were Arlon Peters, an executive at Novozymes Inc. in Franklin County, and Jennifer Brax, a librarian at Perry Memorial Library.

Peters discussed science-related career options with the students during his presentation, emphasizing the importance of science, technology, engineering and math in future careers. He also talked about various operations at the Novozymes plant, which produces enzymes, and conducted a simple enzyme experiment with the students.

Brax visited with the students on three different dates to speak to them about career planning and the importance of education.
