The Woodland Garden Club recently held its December meeting at the Vance County Senior Center.

Vivian McIntyre called the meeting to order.

The hostess, Mary Jane Fink, gave a toast to club members.

Betty White presented a devotion entitled, “What Christmas is all about.”

Peggy Polak led the designing of Christmas arrangements at the meeting using fresh wintergreens and other accents. Polak is a master gardener. The club placed an arrangement on each dining room table at the senior center.

Polak also presented a horticulture report on perennials.

The club members also recently met at the post office in Henderson, where they cleaned the shrub beds, planted new plants and laid down pine straw. This is the 35th year the club has maintained the memorial garden and plant beds surrounding the post office.

During December, the club has also provided gifts to children at Maria Parham Medical Center, placed an Advent wreath in the chapel at the hospital and assisted in decorating the Christmas tree at Perry Memorial Library.
