The Office Administration Club at Vance-Granville Community College hosted two guest speakers toward the close of the spring 2014 semester.

Marianne Durling was the featured speaker during an April lunch and learn held exclusively for club members. Durling is the director of health information management for Granville Health System. She has spent 27 years working in health care and teaches in medical coding programs at the college. Her talk focused on health information management, billing and coding.

In May the club sponsored a free seminar entitled “Mastering the Interview” with Cindy Hammond as the featured speaker. Hammond is the Wake Forest branch manager for Qualified Staffing and has been placing applicants in jobs for more than 20 years. Her discussion involved resume writing, email addresses, voice mail messages, thank-you notes, cover letters and interviewing.

The club represents students at the college who have a strong interest in a career as an administrative professional.
