Arrangements set for parade, festival in Wise
John Ernest Moody has been named the grand marshal of the July 4th Parade and Festival here next week.
The parade is scheduled for Thursday morning, July 4, at 10 a.m. The lineup starts at 9 a.m. on the south end of the community.
Moody, 91, served the U.S. Army as an infantryman in World War II. He came to Warren County in 1952, working as a bus mechanic in the Warren County Schools bus garage until retiring in 1986.
Included in the festival will be music from Steve Owens and Summertime, a noon ceremony recognizing veterans, food, face painting, games for children and activities for children including a bouncy house.
Parade entries can be made by Tuesday, July 2, to Bruce Perkinson at (252) 432-5307. The parade does not allow motorcycles, dirt bikes or four-wheelers.
