College announces library month contest winners
Vance-Granville Community College Library Services recognized National Library Month by holding a pair of student contests. The contest winners were Leah Williams of Macon and Timithy Smith of Norlina.
Williams was named the winner of the college's magnetic poetry contest. For the competition, students used a set of magnets with words on them to form original poems on display boards at the libraries on the college’s main, south and Franklin County campuses. The poets then took a photo of their compositions and emailed them to library officials.
Smith was named the winner of the scavenger hunt contest, in which students had to correctly answer 15 questions about the library’s online services. The contest aimed to promote awareness of available information services and resources at the college.
Each student received a $40 gift certificate to the college’s bookstore.
The college’s libraries are open to the public.
