Maria Parham Medical Center has scheduled a “Childbirth Education Weekend,” a child birthclass, to take place March 22-23.

On March 22, the class will be held from 6-9 p.m.; the following day, it will resume from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Both sessions will take place at the hospital, in the John T. Church Classroom.

The deadline to register for the course is Friday: call (252) 436-1881 to do so. The registration fee is $50. Residency within Vance County is not required to take this course.

Lamaze trained and certified instructors will teach the course. Topics covered will include: comfort measures; support persons and their roles; movement; positions; labor environment; and breastfeeding. This class is a shortened, condensed version of the class regularly offered at the medical center (which is spread out over several weeks).

For more information, Jackie Ross, RN, lactation consultant and Lamaze certified childbirth educator, can be reached at (252) 436-1414.
