Free identity protection event scheduled

Warren County and the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging are hosting Shred and Protect.

The free event is designed to help keep residents safe from identity theft. It begins 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept 28, in the Just Save parking lot at 317 East Macon Street in Warrenton.

Individuals may bring their personal documents and records to safely shred at no cost.

There is a limit of three document boxes, or 75 pounds of paper, per attendee.

Documents to consider shredding are those with sensitive information such as account numbers, birth dates, passwords, personal identification numbers, signatures, Social Security numbers, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.
