Focus on renewable energy at women’s club meeting
Chad Larkins gave a presentation on renewable energy at a recent meeting of the Henderson Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Larkins founded Cherokee Solar Power, with the goal of finding a way for area farmers to generate reliable and long-term continuous income that would allow them to keep their land. The company facilitates land leases between property owners and solar power companies.
During the presentation, Larkins explained the process of settling long-term solar farm leases.
Larkins also discussed other sources of renewable energy, such as converting soybean and tobacco refuse, or the debris from clear-cut timber lands, into biofuel.
A question and answer session was held after the presentation.
During the club’s regular business session, members received committee reports, including an update to the club by-laws.
The invocation was given by Kathy Taylor, club president-elect.
The Henderson BPW Club holds its monthly dinner meeting on the third Thursday of every month in the foundation board room of Maria Parham Medical Center. Those interested in attending should call (252) 438-6732 for reservations.
