Marketing assistance loans, deficiency payments continued for 2013
Farmers in Vance and Warren counties are hereby informed that extensions have been made for the marketing assistance loan and loan deficiency payment provisions for the 2013 crop year.
Producers can use the assistance loans during or after harvest to avoid selling their products when market prices are low. If they forgo the loan despite eligibility, they may obtain a loan deficiency payment instead, if available.
These provisions are applicable to farmers growing wheat, rice, feed grains, soybeans and other oilseeds, peanuts, pulse crops, cotton, honey and wool. Eligible producers may access this assistance from the harvest or shearing season through the program year. Producers of the 2013 mohair crop are not eligible due to mohair provisions being suspended.
For more information on these provisions, visit the Vance-Warren County Farm Service Agency office, 853 S. Beckford Dr., Suite B, Henderson; call (252) 438-3134, ext. 2; or search fsa.usda.gov/pricesupport.
These provisions were authorized through the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008. The extensions were made possible by the passage of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.
