Pre-Mother’s Day personalized jewelry class offered Friday, Saturday
With Mother’s Day approaching, those looking to create a personalized gift for their mother should consider signing up for the “Hand-Stamped Jewelry” class being offered at Vance-Granville Community College Friday and Saturday.
The two-hour class will be available on Friday, from 1-3 p.m., on the Franklin County campus near Louisburg. On Saturday, it will be offered again, from 10 a.m.-noon, this time on the main campus in Vance County.
Instructor Alison Beal of Wake Forest will teach students how to create what are called “mother’s birthstone necklaces.” Words and phrases students wish to put on their circular charm will be placed there with a metal stamp. By the conclusion of the class, attendees will leave with both a new skill and a finished piece of jewelry (which will include Swarovski birthstone crystals and a silver ball chain).
The cost for the course is $24 (which includes all materials and fees). Contact Theresa Somerville at (252) 738-3427 or SomervilleT@vgcc.edu to register.
