Women’s club installs new officers, reviews entire history at meeting
The Henderson Business and Professional Women’s club installed new officers during a meeting on May 16.
Donna Stearns, club vice president, gave the invocation. After a meal, the regular business session was conducted. Members received committee reports, selected the Audit Committee to review books for the past year and were updated on the registration tally for the state convention to be held later this month.
Virginia Adamson, club president, performed the installation ceremony. She presented the club’s entire history, recounting significant events it has contributed to or sponsored — women’s suffrage, support for war work, the ERA movement, and equal pay for equal work. In addition, the organization is assisting female veterans transition back to civilian life.
The new officers are: Marty Smith, president; Kathy Taylor, president-elect; Donna Stearns, vice president; Dianne White, corresponding secretary; Marsha Abbott, recording secretary; Arline Richardson, treasurer; and June Blanks, assistant treasurer.
The meeting was adjourned with the Club Collect at the ceremony’s conclusion.
