Duke Energy expands college grant program
Duke Energy and the North Carolina Community College System recently announced the expansion of the Duke Energy Community College Grant Program through a $6.7 million investment from Duke Energy Foundation.
Duke Energy has awarded $15 million in grants to 24 community colleges within the Duke Energy Carolinas service area since 2004. The new $6.7 million investment will also provide funding to community colleges located in the Duke Energy Progress service area.
Individual community colleges can apply for funds through he Foundation for the Carolinas, for Duke Energy Carolinas customers, or N.C. Community Foundation, for Duke Energy Progress customers. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of representatives from Duke Energy, the N.C. Community College System and the N.C. Department of Commerce.
The Duke Energy Foundation invests $16 million annually for charitable contributions and community support. This year, the foundation will also commit an additional $20 million to support low income energy assistance and workforce development in N.C.
