More than 3,500 people participated in the event and more than $285,000 was raised.

Proceeds from the event will remain in North Carolina to provide support and promote opportunities for the more than 60,000 people in the state affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Team Liam received the Team Spirit Award at the event.

The team will continue its efforts to raise autism awareness with its second garage and bake sale this year. The first was held in August.

The second sale is scheduled to take place on Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 943 West Andrews Ave.

The team is accepting food donations for the sale. Items may be dropped off at The Attic, 946 West Andrews Ave. Arrangements for pick-up may be made by calling (252) 430-9787. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Autism Society of N.C.

The society’s goal is to raise $300,000 by the end of the year to help families affected by autism. Donations are being accepted at trianglerunwalkforautism.com.
