The Bridgestone Americas Bandag Retread Plant in Oxford was recently recognized by the N.C. Department of Labor as a Carolina Star Worksite for having exceptional safety and health management systems.

The award is the state’s highest health and safety honor.

Kimberly Bostic, Carolina Star Consultant with the N.C. Department of Labor, presented Bridgestone Americas leaders with the certificate during a recent ceremony at the Oxford plant. A lunch and plant tour followed the ceremony.

The Carolina Star program is based on the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration Voluntary Protection Program, which promotes and encourages effective worksite-based safety and health. It is a voluntary program with four levels of membership: Public Sector Star, Building Star, Rising Star and Carolina Star. The Carolina Star is the highest designation for general private industry worksites and recognizes organizations that are self-sufficient in their ability to control hazards at the worksite.
