Aycock students attend annual career day event

On March 15, Aycock Elementary School conducted its annual career day program.

During the event, representatives from various fields gave information about their professions to fourth- and fifth-grade students. A total of 16 stations were set up between the multipurpose room and the school grounds where the representatives made presentations.

Stations encompassed a variety of fields, such as: nursing (Anne Cannon of Vance County Schools and Amy Riggan with Virginia Medical Center), farming (Pete Burgess, retired, and Larry Johnson), banking (Latesha Royal of the State Employees Credit Union), martial arts (Betty Evans of Karate Kids Academy), distribution and transportation (Corey Bierly and Teresa Robinson of the Walmart Distribution Center), forest management/outdoor fire prevention (N.C. Forest Rangers), early education (Vanessa Henderson of Vance County Smart Start), dentistry (Julia Saavedra and Michelle Martinez, dental assistants at Paradise Family Dentistry), and library science (Patty McNally, children’s librarian at Perry Memorial Library).
