Members of the Daisette Youth Garden Club held their monthly meeting Feb. 21.

Nyasia Miller, club president, read a passage from a book by Helen Steiner Rice, “Loving Promises,” entitled “Your Problems! My Problems! Our Problems!” For the devotion, the group recited “A Garden Club Prayer.” Miller then conducted the business meeting, followed by group members each listing their recent grades and scholastic achievements.

Vivian Bullock, the group’s advisor, conducted a “Making Valentines” workshop with members in attendance. Members used construction paper of various colors for cutting out valentines. They were distributed to locals who were shut in or sick.

Following the recital of the Youth Pledge, the group adjourned the meeting.

Back on Feb. 2, Bullock, as well as Barbara Carroll conducted another workshop for club members, along with members of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Henderson’s Youth Missionary Department and adult leaders, at the Henderson Institute Historical Museum. They made decorations using soap, washcloth, silk flowers, felt and ceramic tile. Edna Scott, museum curator, gave the group a tour and presented to them a brief history of the facility.
