Kerr Reservoir boat ramps reopen; fees to activate Tuesday

Jan. 20, 2013 @ 02:58 AM

Due to recent high levels of precipitation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reopened all of their boat ramps on Kerr (Buggs Island) Reservoir. In addition, ramps at Nutbush North and South, J.C. Cooper Campground and Bullocksville have been reopened as well by North Carolina State Parks.

Beginning Tuesday, all areas will begin charging their regular $4 per day usage fee. A Corps of Engineers Annual Pass may be purchased to bypass the fee for a 12-month period at any Corps of Engineers day use area throughout the country. The cost for the pass is $30 (of $15 for anyone already possessing an America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass - Golden Age Passports will still be accepted as well).

Annual passes may be purchased in two ways:

• In person — at the Kerr Dam Visitor Assistance Center, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily.

• By phone — call the center and use your credit card.

Note: N.C. State Parks, Occoneechee State Park and Staunton River State Park will not accept these passes.
