Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for a one-day class to help local amateur photographers improve their skills.

The “Photography: Shooting in Manual” class will be held on the college’s main campus in Vance County on Saturday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Participants should bring a bag lunch.

Nancy Jo Smith of Nancy Jo Photography Smith, a Kittrell-based professional photographer who specializes in children and family portraiture, will conduct the session. Topics to be covered will include: manual mode usage, ISO adjustment, aperture and shutter speed (based on subject and lighting conditions).

Students are advised to bring their cameras and manuals to class, and to become familiar with how to change their particular camera’s shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings. Laptop computers may be brought along so that photos taken during class may be viewed later.

Photographers of all levels of experience looking to improve the quality of the photography may attend.

The fee for the class is $25. For more information and to register, call Theresa Somerville at (252) 738-3427.
