Area Christians Together in Service of Vance County received strong support from area churches, schools, private donors, businesses, women league and civic groups for its Thanksgiving and Christmas program. Moreover, contributions have been steady over the past few months.

The volunteers with the local nonprofit assist families on a daily basis. The amount of donations that came in throughout this period allowed them to serve a great number of people in need.

Twanna Jones, executive director, mentioned in a written statement that these donations from the surrounding counties make it “possible to continue those services despite the economic distress we currently find ourselves in.”

Companies and organizations that have made contributions to the nonprofit over the past few months include: Lowe’s Home Improvement, Triangle North Healthcare Foundation, ETC of Henderson, Maria Parham Medical Center, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Vance County Department of Social Services, Peanut Roaster, Granville-Vance Health Department, Billy Signs, Supply Line, Henderson Fruit and Produce, MR Williams, Butterfly Kisses Florist, YMCA, Farm Bureau, State Employees Credit Union, Rogers Group and Bill’s Florist.
