Vance-Granville Community College: Medical assisting students provide Christmas gifts to homeless
The Student Association of Medical Assistants at Vance-Granville Community College recently participated in the Raleigh Rescue Mission’s annual “gift tag” program.
The club received 10 gift tags from the mission, each one requesting specific items for a homeless man, woman or child. The students and their instructors — medical assisting instructor Patrice Allen, club chapter president Sarah Ruehl of Raleigh, medical assisting program head/instructor Donna Gardner, and students Judy McIntosh of Bunn, Rachel Edwards of Louisburg, Lindsey Hinkle of Creedmoor and Jennifer Sykora of Franklinton — delivered the gifts to the mission on Dec. 7.
This organization of medical assisting students is affiliated with the American Association of Medical Assistants. The college’s Franklin County campus near Louisburg is home to the medical assisting program. For more information, call Donna Gardner at (919) 496-1567, ext. 3607, or (252) 738-3607.
