The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill women’s and men’s glee clubs will appear for a concert in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church in Henderson on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.

Conducted by Dr. Sue T. Klausmeyer and Dr. Daniel M. Huff, the glee clubs are among the oldest organizations at the university. Thousands of alumni include themselves as past members. Chosen through auditions, group members represent cities across North Carolina, as well as several other countries.

The clubs’ 2013 repertoires include works by Aichinger, Drennan, Gjeilo, Grieg, Palestrina, Schubert and Szymko, as well as premiere performances of new works by members Thomas Woodward Davis and Garth Molyneux and several lighter pieces in various styles.

There will be no admission charge for any performances on their current tour, which includes three more stops in North Carolina (Winston-Salem, Raleigh and Burlington) and two in New York.
