Funds are now available for Guaranteed Conservation Loans through the Vance-Warren County U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.

Conservation loans allow farmers and ranchers to implement conservation practices on their land that will help protect natural resources. Conservation practices which can be implemented with loan funds include waste management systems, conservation structures and water conservation measures.

These particular loans are not limited to family size farms. Operators who may not qualify for a guaranteed farm operating or ownership loan may still be eligible for a Guaranteed Conservation Loan.

Interest rates and terms will vary. The loan limit is $1,302,000. The farm service agency can issue a maximum guarantee of 75 percent.

Applicants with a strong financial position may use a streamlined application process which reduces paperwork and bypasses the need to provide a cash flow statement and supplementary documentation.

Applicants who do not already have an approved conservation plan should work with their local conservation service staff to develop one.

For questions about these loans, either contact one’s lender or call (252) 438-3134, ext. 2.
