Old Bute Chapter celebrates Constitution Week
Constitution Week was observed at the September luncheon meeting of Old Bute Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Suzanne D. Duncan, corresponding secretary, hosted the celebration.
The opening ritual and prayer were led by Virginia F. Grissom, chaplain, and Sara Davis, regent.
Davis chaired a discussion of the previous year’s calendar and mentioned DAR state and national activities and obligations, the chapter’s dedication to providing aid for the nation’s veterans and the project for the ceremonious disposal of any U.S. flag no longer fit for display. She also announced that Old Bute would be the 2014 hostess for the District Six DAR Good Citizens Lunch.
A listing of monthly hostesses and programs was prepared.
Janice Satterwhite, vice regent and registrar, reported that a Constitution display had been placed in the Perry Memorial Library.
Mary Anne Davis read a tribute to the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Officers for the coming year, in addition to Duncan, Grissom, Davis and Satterwhite, are Mary Anne Davis, recording secretary; Susan Floyd, treasurer; Lynnell Flowe, historian; Bonnie Y. Ayscue, librarian; and Ruby J. Lassiter, public relations.
