May. 18, 2013 @ 07:10 PM

From May 20-June 14, farmers and producers in Vance and Warren counties may sign up for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Conservation Reserve Program.

In addition, sign-ups for several continuous programs/initiatives were restarted Monday and will continue through Sept. 30. These include the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement Initiative, the Highly Erodible Land Initiative, the Grassland Restoration Initiative and the Pollinator Habitat Initiative.

Programs such as these help protect environmentally sensitive lands from erosion or sedimentation, and ensure the sustainability of groundwater and bodies of water in the area.

Other opportunities for enrollment are also available to producers in Vance and Warren counties. For more information, visit the Vance-Warren County FSA Service Center, 853 S. Beckford Drive, Suite B, Henderson; calling (252) 438-3134, ext. 2; or search fsa.usda.gov.

The total number of acres enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program by the local agency is 3691.9.
