If your child is overweight
Begin to modify his behavior now to prevent a future of bad health habits and a continual struggle with weight. Focus on healthy choices, not “dieting.” If the weight problem is minimal, don’t make an issue of it.
Instead, make subtle changes in the food available to him. Replace junk food in the house with a variety of healthy food and snacks.
Allow a few treats now and then or your child may be driven to sneaking a candy bar behind your back.
