Health unit coordinator course at community college starts Monday
Vance-Granville Community College is now offering a health unit coordinator course to take place Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. nightly, in Bldg. 5 on the main campus in Vance County. Starting next week, the course will run from May 6-Aug. 28.
Upon completion, passing students will have a better understanding of medical terminology: they will be able to process medical records, take on leadership roles in a health care environment, and handle basic administrative tasks. Students will perform data entry, and learn how to maintain records, reports and charts. Instructor Tonia Starling will also cover medical law and ethics.
Students must possess a high school diploma or GED, and must pass a criminal background and/or drug screening, to be eligible to take this course.
The course will cost each student $179. N.C. resident seniors (65 and older) may waive fees for one course each semester.
