Ethel Gill Stainback Edwards had a love of reading that she passed on to the rest of her family.

Her grandson, Jarles Alberg of Raleigh, has made a string of donations to the media center at Zeb Vance Elementary School to honor that legacy.

Alberg’s gifts have included $300, a laptop and a number of books he enjoyed reading as a child.

The media coordinator at the school, Janette Johnson, is Edwards’ great-granddaughter. Johnson used the money Alberg donated to purchase books for the school library that would honor her great-grandmother’s agricultural background and show students the importance of farming in the area.
