The Miracle League of Franklin County recently held its annual fall registration and training day at Louisburg High School.

The Miracle League is a baseball league for children and young adults in Vance, Warren, Granville, Franklin and Wake counties. The league provides all players with a “buddy” that can help them understand concepts related to the sport.

Volunteers were present from Kohl’s in Wake Forest, Cypress Creek Civitan Club and Royal Knights Basketball club.

The league's opening games are scheduled for Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. for ages 9 and up and 11 a.m. for ages 5-10.

A new field for the league is under construction at Long Mill Elementary School.

The field will have a rubberized turf surface that will increase safety for the players. It is slated to be ready on Oct. 12.

All league games will be moved to the field upon its completion.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on the players’ trophy celebration day on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. The rain date will be Saturday, Nov. 9.
