Duke Energy Foundation has awarded Franklin-Granville-Vance Smart Start $1200 for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. The Imagination Library is an early literacy initiative providing new, age-appropriate books each month to children up to 5 years of age for free.

FGV Smart Start is the local sponsor of the program. Parents can enroll their children at any age prior to age four and begin receiving a book each month.

The Imagination Library was started by Dolly Parton in 1996 in East Tennessee as a way to benefit the children of her home county. The program has grown to serve over 1600 local communities providing books to almost 700,000 children each and every month.
