Nu Chi Omega holds ‘Pink Goes Red’ event
The Nu Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority recently held its annual “Pink Goes Red” event in the gymnasium of the Central Children’s Home in Oxford.
More than 100 were in attendance at the event.
Dianne Evans, chapter president, gave the welcoming.
Judy Parker-Wiggins, a visiting member of the Cary chapter, provided the prayer.
A presentation on heart health for women was given by Vanessa Snellings of Rex Healthcare Systems. The presentation covered risk factors, healthy eating habits and the benefits of regular exercise.
An information table was on display with a selection of handouts.
Refreshments, consisting of heart-healthy fruits and vegetables, were served during the evening.
Robin Sutton taught various line dances to the group.
Participants wore red t-shirts in support of women’s heart-health.
Donations collected at the event will be sent to the American Heart Association.
Jennette Boyd and Carolyn White co-chaired the event.
Other members providing assistance from the chapter’s health committee were Tertia Allen, Vivian Bullock, Lillie Moss, Carolyn Green, Toni Rankin-Green, Jacki Heath, Barbara Jones, Dorothy Perry, April Putney and Cherelle Smith.
