Victory belongs to you!

Yes, there’s a winner in you!

However, in spite of being declared a winner, I’ve quickly learned that there are some things that will hinder our progress as we travel the road to victory.

One of those things is defeat. Everybody wants to win. When I was a child, I didn’t like playing sports because I hated the thought of losing. I was good at sitting on the sidelines and cheering others to victory.

But in my adult life, I’ve realize that there comes a time when you have to throw the pom-poms down and get in the game. Have you ever faced a situation that caused you to want to reclaim your space on the bleachers? I know I have! After mustering up the nerve to get in the game and finding it was more than I bargained for and more time and energy that I wanted to give … yes, I wanted to reclaim my seat on the sideline.

But on the road to living a life of victory and great success, being a spectator is not an option. A spectator is one who looks on, one who observes and watches. A spectator is usually found on the sidelines and never in the heat of the battle.

In order to win at this thing called life, you must get in the game!

As I examine the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles, Chapter 20, it reminds me of several things. In order to claim your victory when faced with adverse situations and circumstances, you must stay in the fight. Not only that, you must position yourself for victory.

King Jehoshaphat heard that he was about to be ambushed and attacked by opposing forces. Yes, he was alarmed. Yes the news startled him, but only for a moment. King Jehoshaphat knew that in order to get the victory over his enemy he had to put some things in motion.

The Bible states in 2 Chronicles 20:3 (NLT) “Jehoshaphat was alarmed by this news and sought the Lord for guidance. He also gave orders that everyone throughout Judah should observe a fast.” Jehoshaphat sought the Lord. “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” Proverbs 19:21 (NIV).

On the road to victory and great success, there will be many obstacles, detours and roadblocks along the way. The enemy will put up a good fight to discourage you and cause you to faint and lose heart. But I encourage you to seek the face of God like never before because he has a master plan just for you.

For Christians, our playbook is the Word of God. The Bible outlines and describes every strategy and game plan needed to defy the plan of the enemy and live a life of victory and great success.

Regardless of how many Ammonites or Moabites rise up against you, stay in the game! Jehoshaphat’s life is a testament that if you follow the master plan of God, victory and great success is inevitable!
