Senior Circle treated to performance by Gospel Aires
In the fellowship hall at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church, Faye Woodlief, president of the Senior Circle, called the group’s April 17 meeting to order. A devotion, centered around the forgiving love of Christ, was presented by Dr. Carolyn N. Roy, the church’s pastor.
The Gospel Aires, a musical group whose members sing, and perform on guitar, banjo, harmonica, were introduced by one of its members, Conrad Hock. Rounding out the group were Coy Aikens, Jerry Guerrant, Ron Chandler, Earl West and newcomer, Al Bell. Members have performed live on radio stations, and at revivals and church social events. All of the members, who each attend East Side Baptist Church, recalled their own story about God’s influence on their lives.
In addition to playing as a group, members performed solos and took requests. Some members sang some of their personal favorites. Janet Bobbitt, a Plank Chapel member, was also invited to harmonize with them on a gospel favorite.
The groups was presented with a certificate stating that five Bibles were purchased in their honor after the program. A light lunch was served to all in attendance afterward.
