Grace and Peace to the Body of Christ.

During this season of Thanksgiving, as we prepare special meals and spend priceless time with our family and begin our Holiday shopping, it is important for us to reflect on God's goodness towards us.

God admonishes us to come before His presence with Thanksgiving and to have a heart of gratitude. God created us to honor him and give Him thanks. God, in the person of Jesus Christ, is our perfect example of honor and thanksgiving. Jesus honored God and lived in flawless appreciation to His Father.

In Christ's selfless act of sacrifice, we have a perfect example of gratitude to God. Because of God's love for us, it is fitting for us to be in a continuous posture of gratitude to God.

In the bible, Paul the Apostle admonishes us in Colossians 2:6–7, “as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Here we see that the Word of God encourages us to have a personal relationship with Christ and an abundant life of thanksgiving for God, who gave us everlasting life through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.

Let us not lose sight of the important things in life. In a world where prosperity and material gain is promoted, we must not forget that spiritual prosperity and a life of thanksgiving is priceless.

There are many ways to live a life of thanksgiving.

First, we must always remember God in our thoughts, words and deeds. Next, we must recognize God's hand in our lives. Meditate on specific blessings such as life, health, peace, your job, family, home and most of all the Gift of Eternal Life through Christ.

Many of us will be amazed at how blessed we truly are once we spend time with God and reflect on His goodness. Despite our financial situations, socioeconomic status, cultural background, or educational background, for those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we are eternally blessed. Eternal life with God can never compare to the riches of this world.

Another way we can live a life of Thanksgiving is by having a prayer life. Prayer is an essential part of a born-again believer's life. God inhabits the prayer and praise of His people. The Lord desires intimate times of prayer with His sons and daughters.

Finally, remember the power of repentance and obedience. God willingly forgives all sin and faithfully cleanses us from all unrighteousness. God loves us unconditionally and desires a relationship with us. It is imperative that we obey God and keep His commandments. In exchange, God promises blessings and protection.

As we enjoy this season of Thanksgiving let us remember to honor God, serve others, and love one another. As we face tough economic challenges and uncertainties, may we be inspired by the Word of God. Psalm 121 admonishes us to "look to the hills from whence comes our help knowing our help comes from The Lord which made the heavens and earth." In "the hills" resides the power and presence of the almighty God. I encourage every reader to cast your cares upon The Lord for He cares for us.

We must continue to lift our Nation before The Lord and in all things give thanks. Happy Thanksgiving and may God bless us all.
