Hilliard guest at Senior Circle meeting in March
The Senior Circle met in the fellowship hall of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church on March 20.
Faye Woodlief, circle president, made some announcements and Don Rose McGhee conducted the devotion. Afterward, Grace Woodlief introduced the guest speaker, Marshall Hilliard.
Describing his travels to Egypt and Israel, Hilliard recalled the profound impact the trip to Israel made on his life, walking the same paths that Christ and the early Christian apostles and followers did. In addition to entertaining members with stories of his travels, he performed some well known hymns and gospel music on his electronic violin.
Throughout the program, he stressed the importance of communication among people who speak different languages, stressing that music is a universal language.
Circle members made a donation of $100 to victims of a local house fire. They also presented a gift to Patricia R. Fuller and John A. Rogers, in celebration of their engagement and (then) upcoming marriage.
Afterward, attendees enjoyed a light lunch.
