Mary L. Alston and Thomas W. Alston renew wedding vows

Mary L. Alston and Thomas W. Alston of 5180 Antioch Road, Oxford, renewed their wedding vows of 50 years on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Red Bud Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson.

Thomas and Mary are the parents of two sons, Kenneth and Tony; and six grandchildren, Tony Jr., Sharae, Kenneth Jr., Keenan, Jada, and Kai. They are both retirees of the Granville County School System.

The Rev. John M. Silver officiated the ceremony. The bride was escorted by their youngest son, Tony Sr.; Tony Jr., their oldest grandson, was the best man; Mitsie Robinson, god-daughter, was matron of honor; Jada Alston, granddaughter, was the bridesmaid; and Keenan Alston, grandson, was the groomsman. The ring bearer was Antoine Walker and the flower girl was Anaiyah Walker. The ushers were Kai Alston, Khalil Gay, Nolan LeMay and Andre’ Foster Jr. The hostesses were Vivian L. Bullock, Arlelle Hawkins, Dorothy Perry and Kimerly Sharp.

Memory candles were lit by Christine Habersham in memory of the bride’s mother (Juanita Lemay Greene) and sister (Salonia L. Jones); and lit by Elliott Alston in memory of the groom’s father and mother (Ben and Lillie Alston).

There was a vocal selection by the Rev. Odia Silver with music provided by Tim Johnson.

The reception took place at the Central Children’s Home Cafeteria of Oxford, NC. DJ, Edward Alston, Jr. played music ofthe 60’s and 70’s. The cake was prepared by Sarah Venable, and the food was catered by Lenora LeMay. The photographer was Natasha Alston, niece of the bride and groom.
