Sarah Alston Southerland weds Norman Hunter Wyche III

Sarah Alston Southerland and Norman Hunter Wyche III were united in marriage at 5 p.m. on Sept. 7, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Henderson with Dr. Marion Dodson Lark officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Twyla Jean Southerland of Raleigh and Robert Alston Southerland of Henderson and the late Samuel Eugene Southerland. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alston Southerland.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hunter Wyche Jr. of Raleigh and the late Mrs. Jacquelyn Hill Turner of Raleigh. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hunter Wyche of Mt. Airy and the late Margaret Snow Coburn.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an ivory silk Mikado gown by Rivini of Toronto. It featured a strapless fit and flare silhouette adorned with three strategically placed silk organza bands. Covered bridal buttons accented the back of the gown and the chapel length skirt. Her gown was accented by a cathedral length French Alencon lace mantilla.

Sarah Beth Rose of Charlotte served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cameron Wyche Jones of Alexandria, Va., sister of the groom; Jordan Elizabeth Baigas of Charlotte, cousin of the bride; Jennifer Eshraghi Kassouf of Columbia, S.C.; Kendall Ann Pschak of Cary; Dalton Carruthers Hunt of Carrboro; Mallory Caroline Cunningham of Raleigh; Natalie Renee Yakopec of Raleigh; and Carolina Darling Walker of Raleigh. The junior bridesmaid was Lucy York Wyche of Raleigh, sister of the groom.

Norman Hunter Wyche Jr. of Raleigh, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jack Daniel Jones II of Alexandria, Va., brother in law of the groom, and Nathan Paul Buescher, Jonathan Jacob Connors, Garrett Smith Jernigan, Robert Tucker McAdoo Williamson, Bryan Charles Pullock, Matthew Brennan Gray and James Carlton McLamb Jr., all of Raleigh. Robert Tucker McAdoo Williamson Jr. of Raleigh, godson of the groom, served as ring bearer.

Scripture readers were Mary McKinne Long, cousin of the bride, and Dan McQuarrie Reeves, both of Raleigh. Kathleen Southerland Long of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, greeted the guests.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she received a Bachelor of Science in health education and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She is currently employed at Channel Advisor. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club at the 2005 North Carolina Debutante Ball in Raleigh.

The groom is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where he received his Bachelor of Business in real estate and finance and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He serves as the vice president of Brokerage at Commercial Associates, Inc., in Raleigh.

A reception followed the ceremony at Lake O’ The Woods Plantation in Warrenton.

After a honeymoon trip to Bermuda, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
