Canaday Elizabeth Hubbard weds Michael Lawson Green

Canaday Elizabeth Hubbard and Michael Lawson Green were united in marriage on June 22, 2013 at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronald S. Cava officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lynwood Hubbard Jr. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Hargett Ellerbe of Clayton and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lynwood Hubbard Sr. of Henderson. She is a 2006 graduate of St. Mary’s School in Raleigh. Upon graduation from Meredith College, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club at the 2007 North Carolina Debutante Ball in Raleigh. She is currently employed as an associate buyer with Variety Wholesalers in Henderson.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William James Green of Kernersville, N.C. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ethel Blakely Lawson and the late Mr. Fred E. Lawson and Mrs. Royoko Yajima Green and the late Dale L. Green of Ohio. He is a graduate of East Forsyth High School. A graduate from North Carolina State University, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Project management. He is currently employed in the corporate office of Farm Bureau Insurance in Raleigh.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore her mother’s Priscilla of Boston wedding gown and veil.

Miss Mary Royall Hight of Oxford served as her maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Amber Ayscue Afify of Topsail Island, Katherine Scott Anderson of Charlotte, Kerrie Marie Barber of Kernersville, Jennifer Brooke Daniel of Henderson, cousin of the bride, Amy Sapp Holcomb of Garner, Fenton Clare Hubbard of Cary, cousin of the bride, and Caroline Jennings of Augusta, Georgia. Lily Carolina Ellerge of Clayton, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

The groom’s brother, William Jacob Green of Rock Hill, served as best man. The groomsmen were Jimmy PinLin Huang, Robert Yates Hubbard, brother of the bride, Adam Kristopher Lawson, cousin of the groom, Brian Matthews Phelps, John Giddeon VanHoy IV, Brandon Joel Ward and Christopher Patrick Willauer.

Scripture was read by Elizabeth Ann Behar of Laporte, Indiana. The wedding ceremony was directed by Mrs. Charles Craig White and Mrs. Thomas Davis Kirby. Program attendants were Hayley Morgan Albrecht of New Hill and Kathryn Grace Fleming of Smithfield. Kristen Nicole Gibbs of Wake Forest and Kathryn Marie Nagel of Raleigh served as register attendants.

Mark Hopper, organist and harpsichordist, Mrs. Rosene Rohrer, flautist, and Katie Lorah Basden, soloist, provided music for the ceremony.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held immediately following the ceremony at the Henderson Country Club. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Gill Frazier, The Honorable and Mrs. Henry Wesley Hight, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Yancey Washington and Mr. and Mrs. William Coleman Whitt.

After a honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Wake Forest.

Pre-wedding events

A bridesmaid’s brunch was hosted on the morning of the wedding by Mrs. James Hargett Ellerbe, Mrs. Robert Lynwood Hubbard Sr., the grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Wesley Harris, the aunt of the bride.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on the eve of the wedding at the Henderson Country Club.

A golf outing was hosted at the Henderson Country Club by the bride’s father and grandfather on June 21.

A bachelor’s weekend was held by the groomsmen in Myrtle Beach.

A bachelorette weekend was held by the bridesmaids in Wilmington.

An engagement party was held March 2 at the home of Mike and Ann Behar. Other hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Falkner, Dr. and Mrs. James Goodwin. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hight, Dr. and Mrs. Franklin Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stainback, Mr. and Mrs. William Stark, Dr. and Mrs. Buddy Wester and Mr. and Mrs. Cole Whitt.
