Sharon Ross Jones weds Jeffrey Marshall Tingen

Sharon Ross Jones and Jeffrey Marshall Tingen of Ann Arbor, Mich., were united in marriage at 5 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2013, at Woodlawn in Ridge, Md., with Kathy Sullivan officiating.

aThe bride is the daughter of Joseph Jones and Colleen Kinney of Lexington Park, Md. She is the granddaughter of John and Sharon Harwood of St. Inigoes, Md., and Kenneth Jones and the late Jeanette Jones of Norfolk, Va. She is a 2005 graduate of Great Mills High School, Md., and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2011 from Campbell University. She is currently employed as an emergency medicine clinical pharmacist in Ann Arbor, Mich., by the University of Michigan Health System.

The groom is the son of Marshall and Patricia Tingen of Oxford. He is the grandson of Edith Tingen and the late Charlie Tingen and Mozelle Elliott and the late Raymond H. Elliott, all of Oxford. He is a 2003 graduate of J.F. Webb High School in Oxford and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Master of Business Administration in 2009 from Campbell University. He is currently employed as a clinical assistant professor and ambulatory care clinical pharmacist by the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The bride was escorted by her father, Joseph Jones, and was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a strapless champagne ball gown with floral embellishments. Her headpiece featured a band of white flowing ribbons. She carried an Amish bouquet of organic purple, green and white flowers hand-wrapped with white ribbon.

The maid of honor was Dr. Leigh Ann McStoots, a college friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Casey Jones and Cameron Jones, of Lexington Park, Md., sisters of the bride; Lauren Marshburn Cain of Raleigh, friend of the bride and groom; and Melissa Mackey of Durham, friend of the bride and groom. Meredith Reese of Bullock, niece of the groom, was a junior bridesmaid.

The best man was Dr. Erich Cain of Raleigh, a college friend of the groom. The groomsmen were SPC Taylor Jones of Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, CO., brother of the bride; Dr. Andrew Arter of Madison Heights, Mich., friend of the bride and groom; Dr. Rene Gonzalez of Lexington, Ky., friend of the bride and groom; and Dr. Ryan Shaw of Durham, friend of the bride and groom. Carson Reese of Bullock, nephew of the groom, was a junior groomsmen.

Madelyn Reese of Bullock, niece of the groom, served as flower girl. J.T. Blackwell of Wake Forest, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer. Musicians included Valerie Rydberg of Minneapolis, Minn., violinist, and Dr. Erich Cain of Raleigh, banjoist. The wedding director was Karen Garner, a friend of the bride’s family.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held on the waterfront at Woodlawn under a white tent decorated with chandeliers. Guests were seated at tables accented with candlelight and floral arrangements. A buffet dinner was served by Bailey’s Catering of Leonardtown, Md. Following dinner, Marcus Simmons of Baltimore, Md., provided entertainment.

After a trip to a West Virginia mountain getaway, the couple will reside in Ann Arbor, Mich.


Pre-wedding showers/events

A cookware/kitchen shower was hosted by Heidi Diez, Marie Marcelino and Karen Farris on Aug. 25, 2013.

A miscellaneous shower was given on Sept. 3, 2013, by the bride’s family.

A Bachelor/Bachelorette weekend was hosted by the bridal party on Sept. 6, 2013.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted on Oct. 18, 2013, by Marshall and Patricia Tingen, parents of the groom, at Spinnaker’s Restaurant in Ridge, Md. The dinner theme featured Duke and Michigan, the groom’s favorite collegiate teams. The dinner included fresh seafood, grilled chicken and steak.

A Marriage Celebration Reception was hosted at Marrow’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Dec. 27, 2013, by Jennifer T. Reese, Julie T. Blackwell, Sandra Currin, Betty Jean Cash, Trisha Tingen, Bobbie Clifford, Bonnie Hobgood and Susan Smith, all family and friends of the groom.
