Byrom, Pegram and Sanders awarded scholarships

The Rotary Club of Henderson recently presented $1,000 scholarships to Vance County graduating seniors Ethan Byrom of Northern Vance High School, Luke Pegram of Kerr-Vance Academy, and Jonathan Sanders of Southern Vance High School.

Byrom is the son of Lisa and Doug Byrom. He served as valedictorian of the 2013 graduating class at Northern Vance. He will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plans to study business.

Pegram is the son of Kim and Walter Pegram. He was selected as a delegate to attend Boys’ State and the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference at N.C. State University. He will attend N.C. State University and plans to major in accounting.

Sanders is the son of Robin and Terry Sanders. He was named an N.C. Scholar, served as a graduation marshal and received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. He plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he will major in engineering, with the goal of becoming a U.S. Air Force pilot.
