Christian Elaine Medlin weds Brandon Jack Wirtz
Christian Elaine Medlin and Brandon Jack Wirtz were united in marriage at 3 p.m. on June 15, 2013, at Harriett Baptist Church in Henderson with a double ring ceremony by Rev. Will Breedlove.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Elaine Medlin of Henderson. She is the granddaughter of Carl “Red” Neal and the late Peggy Duke Neal of Henderson and the late Gene Davis Medlin of Norlina. She is the great-granddaughter of the late James T. “Bud” Duke and the late Ruby D. Duke of Henderson. She is a 2006 graduate of Southern Vance High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a B.S. in elementary education. She is employed by Vance County Schools.
The groom is the son of Beverly Wirtz of Orange, Ca., and the late Harold Robinson of Chicago, Ill. He is the grandson of Jack Von Wirtz of Orange, Ca. He is a graduate of Robeson Community College and is currently a student at DeVry University studying business management. He is currently employed at Hasty Mart.
The bride was escorted in by her father, Charles D. Medlin. She was supported in marriage by her mother, Elaine Medlin; brother, Ryan Medlin; and cousin, Brian Neal.
The bride wore a strapless ballroom dress with a sweetheart neckline and a bodice adorned with crystals from her neckline to the cathedral-length train. The back of the dress was a corset laced with satin ribbon and crystals. Her veil was a single layer veil with crystals designed to match the dress that went out to a cathedral length.
The bride’s bouquet was a mixture of purple and blue flowers, with two charms holding pictures of her late grandmother and great-grandmother. Lace from both of their wedding dresses was also in the bouquet.
The man of honor was M.J. Grier of Charleston, S.C. The bridesmaids were Jessica Landrau of Brooklyn, New York, Marie Wilson of Oregon, Taylor Walker of Henderson and Ruby Listanti of Raleigh.
The best man was Graham Epps of Maxton. Serving as groomsmen were Brian Neal of Durham, Ryan Medlin of Henderson and Terri Collier of Henderson.
Zia Rose Gill of Washington, D.C., served as flower girl. The ring bearer was Gene W. Medlin of Norlina.
A program of wedding music was presented by Marlene Hayes, pianist, and Tom Strange, soloist, of Henderson.
Evelyn Walker and Michael Riggan of Henderson served as register and program attendants.
After the ceremony, the couple was entertained at a social hour at the Kerr Lake Country Club. After the couple arrived, the guest and wedding party were served dinner. After the dinner, the couple took the dance floor for the first dance. A honeymoon is to be determined.
Pre-wedding showers and events
A bridal shower was hosted by the women of Harriett Baptist Church in the fellowship hall on April 28.
A birthday party and shower was given by the bride’s parents for the couple on June 7 at Cracker Barrel.
The rehearsal dinner was given on June 14.
On June 14, the bridesmaids and groomsmen hosted parties and sleepovers for the bride and groom.
