60th high school reunion
Members of the Henderson High School Class of 1953 had their 60th reunion recently at Ribeyes Steakhouse.
Twenty-nine of the 85 original graduates attended.
Charlie Bussey, class president, and Jane Harris Robertson, class secretary, were both in attendance.
Bussey gave opening remarks prior to dinner.
Thurston Faulkner offered the invocation and provided entertainment, comparing the graduates’ life-long personal and professional accomplishments with his predictions for them in the yearbook prophesy.
Other program participants included: Shirley Knott Young, who gave welcoming remarks; Jo Tanner Cawthorne, who gave an update on members unable to attend; and Libby Newman Harris and Milton Ross, who tended the candle-lighting memorial for 35 deceased class members.
The reunion planning committee consisted of Jo and Wallace Cawthorne, Vera Rainey Gatano, Jean Adams Hughes, Libby Harris, Sarah Royster Poythress, Milton Ross, Marilyn Collins Wells, Nell Cobb Wiggins and Shirley Young.
