Dr. William Harrison (with mug)
Dr. William Harrison, a native of Granville County, graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine on May 19. He is the son of James and Dale Harrison and the grandson of Ernie and Mary Ann Harrison and Ruby Hobgood. Harrison graduated from J.F. Webb School of Health and Life Sciences as valedictorian in 2006. He attended Campbell University, graduating summa cum laude in biochemistry and chemistry in 2010. He then received the Board of Governor’s Scholarship, which covered full costs of tuition to Wake Forest University School of Medicine. At Wake Forest, Harrison became president of the Pathology Interest Club, was involved with several research projects, coauthored a paper on molecular features of various types of renal cell carcinoma and build several tissue microarrays currently being used at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Harrison plans to move to Durham with his wife Jessica to begin residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Duke University Medical Center.
