Brooke Wortham and Benjamin Ellis united in marriage
Brooke Ashley Wortham and Benjamin Steven Ellis of Wilson were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2013, at Rose Hill Plantation in Nashville with Rev. Scott Dodson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cooper Wortham of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Allie Edwards, the late Sylvia Roberson Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Wiggins Wortham, all of Henderson. She is a graduate of Fike High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She currently teaches third grade in Wilson.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Joseph Ellis of Wilson. He is the grandson of Christine James Barnes and the late Benjamin Lee Barnes and Peggy Pappas Ellis and the late Joseph Robert Ellis, all of Wilson. He is a graduate of Fike High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in middle-grades education. He currently teaches eighth grade in Wilson.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore an anniversary ring belonging to her late maternal grandmother. She carried a handkerchief handmade from the lace of her maternal grandmother’s wedding gown that was also worn by her mother on her wedding day. Her bouquet included a cameo pin belonging to a close family friend and “other mother,” the late Alice Flowers Cobb.
The groom wore cuff links belonging to his late paternal grandfather.
The maid of honor was Elizabeth Blair Wortham of Richmond, Va., sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Elizabeth Vaughn Cobb of Wilson; Emily Michelle McDuffie of Chapel Hill; Allie Danielle Hunsberger and Hailey Scott Hunsberger of Raleigh, cousins of the bride; and Amanda Michelle Dodson of Greenville. Honorary bridesmaids were Kimberly Blair Landen of Charlotte; Holli Jean Mattocks of Wilson; Angela Michelle Petrosa of Chapel Hill; Madison Harper Williams of Winston Salem; Chelsea Leigh Howe of Arlington, Va.; Morgan Elizabeth Balance of Kenly; and Michelle Elizabeth Smith of Raleigh.
The best man was Steven Joseph Ellis, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Samuel Steven Ellis, Joseph Steven Ellis and Michael Steven Ellis of Wilson, brothers of the groom; Robert Schick of Charlotte; and Jordan Ashley Davis of Wilson.
Ushers were Felix Morton IV of Rocky Mount; and Eric Van Bhuyen, Tyler Andrew Walston, Tirence DeSean Horne, Robert Lee Harrison IV, Matthew David Lemmons and James Robert Hayes, all of Wilson.
Catherine Miller Abbott of Henderson, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. John Wesley Abbott III of Henderson, cousin of the bride, served as ring bearer.
Providing music were Christopher Ellis, Sara Grace Bindrim and Claire Fowler, all violinists; Barbara Gates, cellist; and William Boles Jr., trumpeter.
The wedding director was Lyn Graves of Fresh Affairs Florals in Raleigh. Eve Elizabeth Ellis of Wilson served as register attendant.
Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception were hosted by the bride’s parents.
After a honeymoon trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Wilson.
A wedding eve dance was hosted by the friends and family of the couple on Dec. 13, 2013.
A bridal luncheon was held on Dec. 13, 2013, hosted by Melodie Edwards Hunsberger of Raleigh, aunt of the bride; Alice Wortham Wright of Louisville, Ky., aunt of the bride; Billie Cain Frazier of Henderson and Sandra Choplin Wilkerson of Henderson.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom on Dec. 13, 2013.
