Floyd, Taborn united in marriage

Brittany Latifah Floyd and Minister Quentin Darron Taborn of Oxford were united in a double ring ceremony on June 15, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Oxford. Pastor Spotswood E. Burwell Jr. officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Shelia Robertson and Andra Floyd (Beverly) of Oxford. She is the granddaughter of Estoria Robertson and the late Charles Cornell Robertson, and also the late Mary Lewis. She is currently employed at Professional Pharmacy Oxford.

The groom is the son of Shelia Evans (Dale) of Mebane and Darrel Taborn (Desiree) of Oxford. He is the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Donnell Taborn of Oxford, Gladys Hester of Mebane and the late Calvin Hester. The groom is currently employed by Kennametal of Henderson.

The bride was escorted by her uncle, Rodney Atkins. She wore a white satin fit and flower gown with bow detail and a white veil. The bride carried a bouquet of fresh, white Calla Lilies wrapped in silver rhinestones made by Unique Décor.

Mrs. Ondray Foster, a friend of the bride, was the matron of honor. Faith Taborn, sister in law of the bride, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were T’onna Taborn, sister in law of the bride; Jykejauh Johnson, cousin of the bride; Kartrina Williams, and Shannon Ward, a friend of the bride. The junior bridesmaids were Jade Webb, cousin of bride; and Tia Floyd, sister of the bride.

The best man was LaDarius Taborn, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Saquan Atkins, Brian Foster Jr., Rashaun Atkins, cousin of the bride; and Arthur Hobgood, friend of the groom. The junior groomsmen were Hezekiah Foster and Micah Wilkerson, cousin of the groom.

The flower girl was Destiny Wilkerson, cousin of groom. Jaylin Wilkerson cousin of groom, served as ring bearer. Deacon Robert Burwell and Minister John Joyner served as ushers.

A program of music was provided by Nashia Oakley, soloist, who sang “Because We Love You.” Minister Brian Foster, keyboardist and soloist performed “I Found Love” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” For the bride’s entrance, “Ribbon In The Sky” was played by Minister Eric Burwell, saxophonist. Minister Minda Williams performed “Lord Prayer,” and Nashia Oakley sang “We’re Gonna Make It.”

The wedding directors were Minister Latannya Joyner and Paula Chavis. Marcus Foster took photographer and served as videographer. The cake was made by Heather Wiggins and the food was provided by the bride’s family.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Granville Country Shrine Club. The decorations for the Reception Hall were done by Pamela Strong and decorations for the ceremony were done by Unique Décor and Pamela Strong.

Following a wedding trip to the mountains in Virginia, the couple now resides in Granville County.
