Anna Shope exchanges vows with Kevin Javor

Anna Lewis Shope and Kevin Paul Javor were married at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013, at West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro. The Rev. Dr. David S. Melton officiated.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Greensboro Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Irving Shope of Greensboro and the granddaughter of Mrs. Edward Genatious Lewis of Henderson, and the late Mr. Lewis and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Irving Shope. Following graduation from Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, Dr. Shope continued schooling at North Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences. The bride was a Park Scholar, Delta Zeta Sorority sister and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She also graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 2012, receiving a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She is currently a dentist at Winslow Indian Health Care Center in Arizona.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Mark George Olson of Morrisville and Mr. Paul Edward Javor of Warren, Vt. He is the grandson of Mrs. John Michael Reed of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Walter Francis Javor of Clinton, Conn. He graduated from Leesville Road High School in Raleigh in 2002. He is also a graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in criminology. He is a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and is a certified pharmacy technician for Safeway Pharmacy of Flagstaff, Ariz.

Escorted by her father, the bride was attended by sorority sister, Caroline Rÿf Byrd of Raleigh as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Shenan Marie Bradshaw, DDS, of Greensboro, Sarah McClamroch Bennett of Greenville, Morgan Hays Tucker of Raleigh, Meredith James Skeeters of New York, N.Y., and the bridegroom’s sister, Caitlin Brooke Javor of Raleigh.

Best man was James Ryan Colley of Williamsport, Pa. The groomsmen were Zachary James Kaklamanos and Grady Allen McCollum, both of Raleigh, James Cole Parker of Kinston, Ernest James Martin II of Morehead City and Joseph Scott Kimray of Mount Holly. Ushers were the groom’s cousin, Ryan Daniel Javor of Deep River, Conn.; and Scott Andrew Tullos of Winston-Salem and Matthew Erik Yaeger of Raleigh, both friends of the groom.

Lindsay Jean Gibbs of New York, N.Y., gave the scripture lesson and Kaylie Michele Williamson of Wake Forest, the bride’s cousin, served as acolyte.

Following the wedding, the couple will reside in Flagstaff, Ariz.


Pre-wedding showers/events


On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by groom’s parents at Café Pasta.

An engagement party, bridal tea, bridal brunch, bridesmaid luncheon and post-wedding gathering were given by family and friends of the bride.
