Book sale — Friends of Perry Memorial Library book sale from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the City Operations Center on Beckford Drive; this is the last day of the sale.

 

MONDAY

Community Watch — The Ruin Creek community watch group meets at 7 p.m. at the West Hills Presbyterian Church.

Knitting club — Perry Memorial Library, every other Monday, from 1-3 p.m.; knitting, crocheting and other crafts involving strings and yarn; free program, public welcome to work on their crafts or to come and learn.

City Council — The City Council meets at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

Elks Lodge — Pride of Vance Elks Lodge no. 1263 second annual Children’s Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. at the lodge on Rockspring Street, Henderson; food, games, crafts, music, dancing and more; there will be prizes for the best costume; $1 raffle tickets for three DVD players; all children must be accompanied by an adult; entry fees are $2 for elementary school students, $4 for middle school students and $5 for adults.

Weight loss group — TOWN (Take Off Weight Now), a non-profit weight loss group, will meet at Aycock Recreation Center at 11:30 a.m.
