John R. Hawkins — John R. Hawkins and Friends, Inc, meets at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Snow Hill Baptist Church to complete plans for 2014; open to all interested in the John R. Hawkins High School.

 

MONDAY

Genealogical Society — The Vance County Genealogical Society 1881, Inc., meets at 11:30 a.m. at Ribeye’s in Henderson; Hilma Smith will present the program on Plank Chapel Church; the meeting is open to the public.

Healthcare enrollment — Enrollment in healthcare through the Affordable Healthcare Act will be available between 8:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Rural Health Group, 100 Parkview Drive West, Henderson; the non-profit, federally qualified group does not deny healthcare services due to inability to pay; those interested must bring identification and proof of income for proper enrollment.

MLK Celebration — The Oxford-Granville Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee’s commemorative program begins at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of Northern Granville Middle School in Oxford; Rep. Masonic lodge — The Henderson Masonic Lodge No. 229 meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the lodge, 401 Brodie Road, Henderson; meal is served 6 p.m.; Stated Communication at 7 p.m.; all lodge members and visiting Master Masons are invited to attend.

Community Watch — The Carey Chapel Community Watch meets at 7 p.m. at Aycock Recreation Center; open to all area residents.

Republican Party — The Vance County Republican Party meets at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioner room at 122 Young Street, Henderson; N.C. Rep. George Cleveland will speak on immigration; the session is open to the public.

Board of Health — The Warren County Board of Health meets at 7 p.m. in the conference room at the Warren County Health Department.

Community Watch — The West End Community Watch group meets at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of West End Baptist Church; the speaker will be Cindy Bostic, assistant district attorney.

Kiwanis Club — The Henderson Kiwanis Club meets at 6:30 p.m. at Golden Corral Restaurant in Henderson; Mark Pace will present a program on the history of the Revolutionary War in Vance and surrounding counties; open to all members and their guests.

Chamber of Commerce — The Granville County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Vance-Granville Community College Civic Center; tickets are $35 each and include a buffet dinner.
