City Council — The Henderson City Council’s Strategic Planning Retreat begins at 8 a.m. at Perry Memorial Library.

Crime Prevention Council — The Vance County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council meets at 8:30 a.m. at the Aycock Recreation Center, 307 Carey Chapel Road, Henderson; the Vance Gang Awareness Partnership will meet immediately after.

Warren Library — An interactive job-hunting presentation by Chad Larkins begins at 2 p.m. at the Warreen County Memorial Library.

Community Watch — The West Hills/West Creek/158 By-Pass Community Watch meets at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church; Mike Ellis of PSNC Energy will be the guest speaker; refreshments will be served; open to area residents.

Relay for Life — Vance County’s annual Relay for Life kickoff event begins at 6 p.m. in the Maria Parham Medical Center auditorium; refreshments will be served; the event is open to the public.

City Council — The Henderson City Council meets at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers with a work session to follow.

NAACP — The Vance County NAACP regular monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Community Center on Garnett Street; a youth session will meet from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Parks and Recreation — The Henderson-Vance Parks and Recreation community meeting to discuss a master plan begins at noon at Perry Memorial Library; the meeting is open to the public.

Farmers Market Advisory Board — The Vance County Regional Farmers Market Advisory Board meets at 1:30 p.m. at the regional farmers market, 210 Southpark Drive, Henderson; the meeting is open to the public; plans will be discussed for operation guidelines and a ribbon cutting and open house.

Perry Library — A book discussion on “In The Time Of Butterflies” with a featured scholar will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Room of Perry Memorial Library.

Small Business Event — The Small Business and Industry Appreciation Day is from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Granville County Convention Center; free and open to the public; refreshments will be provided.

Warren library — An African-American play reading performance based on the life of Ida B. Wells begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Warren County Memorial Library; presented by the Warren Artists Market.
